Sybil Bawuah-Quashie is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIHCM). She graduated with an Upper Second Class Honors in BSc (Hons) Housing Studies from University of Greenwich in 1999.
Sybil’s Social Housing career started in October 1994, when she secured her first role with The London Borough of Newham as a Technical Admin Officer at a local housing office in East London. The insight she gained as a result, prompted her to pursue a career in Social Housing.
Whilst studying, she continued to work part time within the sector during term time and holidays, juggling studies, work, becoming a newly wed and having her first daughter. Determination and hard work pays!
Sybil had occupied roles such as Project Administrator with Community Housing Association, Rent Arrears Officer with Mace Housing Co-OP and Residents Liaison Team Leader with The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham before resigning to become a fulltime mum in November 2004 after the birth of her second daughter in June 2001.
As a fulltime mum, she pursued her interest in Events Management and successfully setup and ran an events business; Finest Party and Events Organisers, alongside.
In 2009, she co-founded Golden Acres Day Care and Respite Limited; an elderly day care centre in Rainham, Essex, which was reluctantly sold on in 2012 due to cuts in adult social care funding.
Sybil launched her comeback in Social Housing on 2nd December 2013, which was her mum’s birthday, with Guinness Partnership as a Customer Accounts Advisor and then to Family Mosaic and Notting Hill Genesis in customer services roles.
She is now the Founder and CEO of Housing Dilemmas CIC based in Chelmsford, Essex, which was incorporated in June 2018 to prevent and relief homelessness in the area and its environs.
She has since received 2 awards in recognition of her work: The Extraordinary Achievers Award in March 2022 and The Extraordinary People’s Award in October 2022.
Additionally, she is also the Founder of Paul’s Gift; www.paulsgift.org, a charity setup in honour of her late brother to support less privileged children in rural Ghana with their medical bills and needs. She has also recently launched FAB Foundation; www.fabfoundation-gh.org, in honour of her late father, to support some of the deprived children of St Francis Primary School in Sekyedumase with their schooling needs.
Sybil Bawuah-Quashie is a believer in the fair distribution of wealth and resources and endeavours to reach out to the underprivileged both in the UK and Ghana in her quest to tackle some of the root causes of abject poverty and deprivation in the hope of building thriving communities.
